Dinner and a Light Show

We went to Genki Sushi for dinner in Tsim Sha Tsui! =)
A lot of people hate on Genki sushi because it's a chain rotating sushi bar...but I thought it was rather good and reasonably priced! Afterwards, we went to Hui Lau San for dessert!
They're famous for their mango desserts! Look at this delicious trio I shared with my friend!
We ran to try to catch the city light show...but we just barely missed it =( Oh well! They have it EVERY NIGHT.
A lot of exchange students complain that it's really boring and overrated and stuff...
but come on, the cityscape putting on a lightshow?! What do you want to happen, the buildings to make their corporate lights into strobe lights or fireworks to explode on the working people? Only some vanity lights on the buildings blink and flash, and there are some lasers. -I- think it's rather amazing, but maybe I'm just biased.
We passed by a Din Tai Fung...I couldn't help but take a picture next to this little guy!
Derp. I think my eyes are closed. Beautiful cityscape though!

I made my own individual hotpot!
Thinly sliced beef, choy sum, and Japanese mushrooms all in a satay flavored hotpot mix!

Brisket and Fish Spring Roll Spicy Noodle!

Awfully rainy day today!
Rain like this makes me want...a bowl of hot steamy noodles!

This place is famous for fish spring rolls!

I got a soy milk to cool my tongue after eating this spicy noodles! It comes with pickled vegetables, bean curd sheets, brisket, and spring rolls. It's so big that I can't finish it!

Sang Kee Congee

Tara and I went on a little adventure to get some congee!

Mm so tasty! It was pretty good...but I don't see what makes it worth the special trip!
Afterwards, we got some dessert!
Look at my walnut cookie and passionfruit green tea with pearls! So tasty!

I'm not Korean, but I am HUNGRY!

Today I went out to TST to find some Korean food! It's pretty hard to find, especially if you don't want to empty out your wallet.
Tasty bibimbap! I also got an iced plum tea, and a little bit of banchan for myself! I thought it was pretty tasty! Also, I got to take half of the bibimbap home and eat it for dinner, haha!

Hainan Chicken Rice

I went to ShaoYe Hainan chicken rice!
The chicken was very smooth and I was supplied with a variety of dipping sauces.

But the rice.

OH, the rice.

I think the rice was made of pure MSG, laced with some addictive, euphoric drug that I cannot name...
Because it was the most delicious rice I've ever had.

The cup of chicken broth attested to that fact. The broth felt like crack-soup.

But oh, the rice. So creamy, such a perfect texture. Greasy from the chicken's oils in the soup. So flavorful, so savory.

I was emotionally distraught when I got full because it meant I could not eat any more rice!
I ate more rice anyways.

I wanted to ask them to just give me a week's worth of rice to take home...so I could just eat it forever! But I didn't. It's better if I don't, because I'd eat the week's worth all in one sitting, haha!

3am Dim Sum

There's this really popular place to go for dim sum...at 3am! Perfect for students with late night munchies! It opens right at 3am! The selection is small, but everything is hot and delicious!

Some of us got out of bed just for this!
There were a lot of people, tired from a night of drinking at LKF, who came here to fill up on some food! it was pretty cheap and quite crowded! Getting a taxi back home was a little more difficult.

Mmm yummy! Now time for bed XD

Hot and Sour Pork Chop Noodle

Hot and sour noodles with pork chop!
It was good...but it made my tongue feel really weird. maybe it was whatever they use to make it sour? Tasty, but will not get again.

Chicken and Doll Noodles!

For something that seems so simple, it was DELICIOUS! The skin on the chicken was crispy and juicy. The green onion oil was salty and fresh. And the noodles were the perfect think to sop it all up!

Crystal Jade

Today I went to Crystal Jade!

My mom's friend took me here years ago and I've been coming here every time I visit Hong Kong!

Delicious xiao long bao! <3 My favorite! It's a little pricey, but well worth it.

A couple years ago I went to Shanghai, the birthplace of xiao long bao, expecting to eat my weight in delicious XLB. I went to the most famous places...but I swear, the XLB I've eaten is in Hong Kong. I don't know if it's just because it's better, or maybe I just have Cantonese taste buds.

So good! It's a torn apart flaky thousand layer green onion pancake =) Fried meat bun!

Baked Potato [Canteen Food]

I found this canteen restaurant called Oliver's Super Sandwiches. They do more western food like pasta and sandwiches. You can also get a baked potato! It is delicious!

Curry Pork Chop [Canteen Food]

The canteen food is so good here in my opinion!
(They call it a canteen here, whereas at home I think we call it a cafeteria.)

Also, it's cheap! Only HK$26 for this, which is about $3.
(If you want to eat at Pippin, my home school's cafeteria, I think it's like $11 to eat without a meal plan. Though, it is all you can eat...)

I get this curry pork chop like once a week because it's SO TASTY!

The pork chop is extremely CRISPY and so juicy!
The curry is delicious! And I love green beans!

Aunty Visits

My aunty (she's the sister of my 3rd Great Uncle, actually) came to visit! She's been living in the states with my uncle (my real uncle) for over ten years; I consider her real family and I'm a lot closer to her than her brother and sister who live in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, respectively.

The baby was trying to run away from the picture! This is a really cool mural!
It's made of buttons!

Beard Papa

I love my Beard Papa!
They have many more types of creampuffs here! This is a chocolate dipped creampuff filled with whipped cream and strawberries! So delicious!

A Hong Konger's Breakfast

I ate this breakfast at a cha chaan tang. I guess this is a typical breakfast for Hong Kongers. It is a Hong Kong version of what they think is a Western style breakfast!
My cousins who live in Hong Kong really like to eat something like this. They think eating chao mein and congee is boring; they grew up with all that Chinese food stuff. But eating Western food is cool.
Maybe other Americans have, but I've never had baked beans for breakfast. I also have some bacon, steak, an over easy egg, and some margarine'd toast. So delicious!

Korean Bbq!

Had a reunion with the Singapore group to see Krystal off, who's returning back to the states! We went to get Korean barbeque! Let me tell you, it was not cheap. (And it wasn't AYCE! I need to get me some of that when I get back in LA!)

Also, there were no banchan refills! THIS IS NOT ENOUGH.

It was pretty tasty but I was not even remotely full when I decided that my wallet was empty enough.

Good thing we got street food after!
And delicious cheap boba! Yay!
